    SUMMARY:

    Oversees and monitors the implementation and performance of programs established to maintain the safety, and operational efficiency of school facilities. Supervise and trains lead technical personnel and implements preventative and scheduled procedures to optimize system performance and minimize disruptions to the educational process in the district.

    BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across teams; and manage resources to effectively support district goals.

    • Implement vertical and horizontal systems integration initiatives to support high student achievement and customer satisfaction.

    • Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.

    • Supervise Facilities Technician Leads; schedule work orders and ensure work complies with specifications; monitor facility systems and services in compliance with local, state and federal codes and guidelines; review emergency notification system and recommend appropriate course of action.

    • Recommend for hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate assigned staff; complete required paperwork, maintenance records/work orders; process leave requests; assist with determining technical training needs; determine the staff development/certification or re-licensing in required areas.

    • Assist and advise on matters related to facility systems and maintenance operations for all District facilities.

    • Work cooperatively with principals and facilities managers to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of facility operations.

    • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor.

    • Prepare, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for facility equipment.

    • Order equipment and supplies and maintain accurate records.

    • Pursue professional development activities; ensure that professional development activities are aligned with district goals and initiatives.

    • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.

    • Comply with the Employee Standards of Conduct.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Knowledge of planning and organizing facility and maintenance projects and activities

    • Knowledge methods, materials, tools and terminology used in construction

    • Knowledge applicable laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures related to school construction safety

    • Knowledge of state and federal laws, such as ADA and other statutes pertaining to public facilities

    • Skill in organizing and conducting effective meetings

    • Ability to prepare and present complex and technical reports

    • Strong verbal skills

    • Ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Project, Excel and other scheduling packages

    • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating tact, patience and courtesy

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and experience equivalent to four years industrial, construction, maintenance or related work

      Experience:

    • Two (2) years successful experience in supervising facilities systems and services in a multiple-facility setting

    • Two (2) years successful supervisory experience

      Other:

    • Valid Texas Driver’s License with record of safe driving

    • Fluency in Spanish or Vietnamese languages (preferred)

    MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

    • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying

    • Occasional work outside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders

    • Occasional exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and material

    • Maintain emotional control under stress

    • Frequent district-wide travel

    • Continual interpersonal interactions including speaking within an educational environment

    • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
