    SUMMARY:
    Follows routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

    BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Model core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties in an effective and efficient manner for the purpose of supporting and contributing to the achievement of district goals.
    • Maintain a cleaning schedule that includes cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms as assigned.
    • Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
    • Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
    • Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
    • Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.
    • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
    • Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and lighting to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
    • Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to principal or designated campus staff.
    • Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by principal.
    • Assist in setting up facilities for special events.
    • Assist with opening and closing building each school day.
    • Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities; check daily to ensure that appropriate exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy as scheduled by the campus principal.
    • Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
    • Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
    • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
    • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
    • Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
    • Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
    • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
    • Comply with the Employee Standards of Conduct.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • None
    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
    • Ability to read, understand, and communicate instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
    • Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
    • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
    • Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
    Equipment Used: buffers, automatic floor machines, burnishers, vacuum cleaners, extractors, dollies, ladders, electric drill, hand tools

    Education/Certification:
    • Completion of sufficient education or training to read write and follow directions

    MENTAL/PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
    • Frequent walking, standing, and climbing
    • Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders
    • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials
    • Frequent lifting of up to 35 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
