    SUMMARY:

    Assist the Budget Coordinator with the annual budget process, including personnel, campus and department expenditure budgets. Review and process district budget amendments and adjusting journal entries. Compile various analyses and reports for decision-making. Provide training and support to stakeholders in the preparation and maintenance of the district budget.


    BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Assist in the annual budget process by reviewing campus and departmental budgets, assisting principals and departmental staff with their budget questions, and balancing the expenditure budget.     • Assist in the annual budget process by reviewing campus and departmental budgets, assisting principals and departmental staff with their budget questions, and balancing the expenditure budget.
    • Assist with Zero Based Budget worksheets for campuses and departments with the ZBB budgetprocess.
    • Assist with the monitoring and maintaining of the budget, including the payroll budget, throughout the year and prepare various analyses and reports.
    • Prepare budget amendment Board Agenda items.
    • Prepares and/or post budget amendment requests, journal entries and budget adjusting entries including post district funding requests.
    • Review and approve campus general fund purchase requisitions.
    • Act as the resource to the campuses and departments for budget inquiries throughout the year.
    • Assist with training for the budget process for all campus and departmental staff, as well as for new employees with budget responsibilities.
    • Assist with compilation of information for a comprehensive budget document.
    • Assist in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for submission to GFOA and ASBO.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
    • Pursue professional development activities that align with district goals and initiatives in assigned area of responsibility.
    • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • None
    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
    • Knowledge of governmental accounting and auditing principles established by the GovernmentalAccounting System Board (GASB)
    • Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
    • Skill in analyzing and interpreting financial data
    • Skill in analyzing and evaluating accounting problems, developing data, and recommending improvedprocedures
    • Skill in using personal computer and software to develop complex accounting reports, spreadsheets,and databases
    • Skill in working with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification:
    Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Experience:
    • Three (3) years successful experience in accounting
    • Public school district experience (preferred)
